Everybody Needs “Somebunny” PEI Humane Society Presents Second Annual Easter Fundraiser Charlottetown – Somebunnies are back! The PEI Humane Society is once again ‘adopting’ plush Somebunnies as an Easter fundraiser and public education campaign. Each Somebunny is only $20 and includes one adorable plush 11” Ganz bunny in blush or brown as well as an Adoption Certificate that you can personalize. All proceeds from this event will go towards the care of rabbits and other small pets throughout the year at the Society. “This Easter, we encourage Islanders to ‘adopt’ one of our plush Somebunnies instead of purchasing a real rabbit as a gift,” explains PEI Humane Society Contract Development Coordinator Sophia Ball. “We created this fundraiser last Easter because traditionally in North America the number of rabbits coming into Shelters spikes several weeks to several months after Easter once the novelty has worn off and the new owners realize how much speciality care rabbits need. We encourage everyone to pick up their Somebunny this Easter to spread awareness and help companion animals on PEI. But don’t delay as only one hundred plush Somebunnies are available!” Somebunnies will be available at the PEI Humane Society as well as Blue Ribbon Pet Supply, Global Pet Foods in Charlottetown and Global Pet Foods in Summerside. The PEI Humane Society will also be at the Summerside Farmer’s Market on March 16, the Charlottetown Mall on March 18 & 19, the Charlottetown Farmer’s Market on March 23, and the Confederation Court Mall on March 25 & 26 with Somebunnies available for purchase. More details are available on their website at The PEI Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization which operates the Island’s only Shelter for lost, homeless and abandoned companion animals. -30Photo Attachment: PEIHS Fundraising Somebunnies Photo Credit: Eilish Bulmer & Sangeetha Young, students at the Holland College Photography Dept.
